Hawaii is one of the few places where people can safely watch a volcano erupt. Kilauea does not disappoint; a fiery cauldron that rhythmically releases magma into the ope.

Walking distances and viewing opportunities will vary depending on volcanic activity, which changes constantly. Federal, State, or County officials may close or open the lava viewing area at any time depending on conditions and hazards present. Every attempt is made to get as safely as possible to the lava viewing area and tours depart whether the area is currently open or closed as conditions.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is made up of two different Hawaii volcanoes: Kilauea and Mauna Loa. The park is often visited on circle island tours of the Hawaii that also include stops at sights such as Rainbow Falls and the Hamakua Coast.

Located in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the southern coast of Big Island, Kilauea is the world's most active volcano. Standing proud at 4,200 feet (1,280 meters), it's been erupting.
